Cara Magura

Fiber Artist

Fiber arts have been a lifelong interest for Cara, growing up on a farmette surrounded by natural fibers Cara started knitting as a child.  In the last 3 years Cara has taken to “knitting like crazy” making her own complex patterns and turning her “knack” into a full blown passion, exploring more aspects of fiber arts like spinning.  Kara is left handed and has experience teaching both left and right handed knitters. She loves sharing the calming and therapeutic aspects of knitting with her students in our afternoon knitting tea party.

Laura Coates

Ceramicist

Laura is a ceramicist with a passion for sharing the joys of pottery. Originally starting out as a dancer, Laura discovered the healing nature of self expression, which guided her through a variety of artistic mediums. As an adult, she discovered ceramics and found satisfaction in the way it brought together so many avenues of expression. There was movement in creating the pot, creativity in the design of the structure, and freedom in the use of color in the glazing process.

Laura attributes much of what she knows to Fran Newquist and Jane Cullum of Manassas Clay. Their tremendous teachings encouraged Laura to develop herself artistically, and she is delighted to continue this trend with the students of Foxley Atelier.

April is a multi-media artist with a passion for all things creative. Like Adriana, she began her artistic journey under the mentorship of Patricia McMahon Rice, starting at age 6. April specializes in pet portrait art and illustration, using a variety of artistic mediums. She is a lover of all artistic avenues, and enjoys learning new methods of creativity. Most recently, she has picked up exploring the world of fiber arts, creating felted paintings using the fibers from the alpaca farm she helps at. April has spent the past few years fueling her passion and developing herself as an artist, and finds joy in showing students new and fun ways to express themselves through creativity.
